Champions were crowned last Saturday…The most awaited British Champions Day has come and gone, leaving behind many happy as ever.

The flat season finale promised the world’s best racehorses delivering instants that were carved in racing history. All eyes were set upon the richest day in British racing. Over £4 million in prize money was on offer across the final races, can you believe that?

The star of the show was no other than Almanzor, officially the highest-rated horse in Europe. The winners who claimed the cups were:

Long Distance Cup - Sheikhzayedroad

Sprint Stakes – The Tin Man

Fillies & Mares Stakes – Journey

The Qipco Queen Elizabeth II Stakes - Minding (IRE)

The Qipco Champion Stakes - Almanzor (FR)

The Balmoral Handicap Stakes – Yuften

One happy jockey – Tom Queally was among the winners again! He was the one to have guided unbeaten Frankel to the last of 14 victories four years ago in his farewell race on Champions Day.

Jim Crowley was crowned champion jockey for the first time! He had been a 66-1 outsider at the beginning of the season.

"I'm so proud to be champion. It's beyond my wildest dreams and hopefully my kids will be proud of me," said the father-of-three.
