  • St Patrick wasn’t Irish – TRUE

Say whaaat?! Yup, St. Patrick wasn’t Irish and he wasn’t born in Ireland. Scholars are divided as to where he was from – either England, Scotland or Wales – but either way, it wasn’t Ireland... what a surprise!

  • St Patrick’s Colour is Blue – TRUE

Wow, who knew?! But apparently in old artworks, St P can clearly be seen in blue robes – not the green that we associate St. Patrick's Day with today. It’s a bit of head scratcher as to when and why exactly it changed over the years but it’s probably because of lush green of the Irish countryside – it’s not called the Emerald Isle for nothing!

  • Your odds of finding a 4 leaf clover are 1 in a million – FALSE

It’s actually only 1 in 10,000 – we like that! Feels possible, right? We've been searching for one since we were little and will never stop – got to keep the dream alive ;-)  If we find one we’ll let you know – it will be an extra lucky day for sure!

  • St. Patrick died on 17th March – TRUE

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated on his death day not his birthday as you may imagine. A great tribute or a little bit mean, depending on how you look at it!

  • Many bars in the USA sell green beer on St. Patricks Day – TRUE

Why do we have the feeling that green beer can only make the post-St-Paddy’s-Day-hangover worse? If you try it out, with a little food colouring, let us know the result!
